Pitch Calls

  • Conz at Business Insider is looking for a piece by a parent whose child got injured on a plane. Whether it was because they were unrestrained, or sitting on a lap, etc. Email directly: cpreti@insider.com. $230-ish.

  • Paige at Business Insider is looking for freelance pitches from people who quit/left/lost a job and had it spark a major change for their life/home/etc. Examples in the attached thread. $240+.

  • Leading Like a Lady Blog has reached out to the FWN directly with a pitch call. They want to highlight Black or African women organizing others in social justice and mutual aid. Please submit your story using this form to be published in the newsroom. Submissions approved for publication will earn $0.25 per word for a maximum of 500 words.

  • Betches is seeking pitches from late bloomers, anything from a first kiss in your 20s to learning to ride a bike as an adult. They’re interested in candid essays and humor pieces. Send pitches to emma@betches.com. Rate is dependent on angle & type of story ($250-$400).

  • Fortunately Magazine has shared a call for pitches: “Partnerships, parleys, polycules—In Issue 02, we explore forms of communal exchange and transfers for unprecedented times and uncertain futures. This issue probes how institutions influence our daily transactions, which range from the subtle to the explicit: a look across the room, a heated dialogue between conspirators, or the frenzy of the market. FAIR considers ways for ideas, commodities, and resources to flow from production to consumption in systems that prioritize collective well-being over accumulation through pragmatic or even deviant means." $300+, deadline March 17th.

  • Motley Bloom is looking for a seasoned travel writer to write a 1000-word piece on why hotels matter for neurodivergent travelers. More than just a roundup, we want to discuss the importance of finding the right hotel and the factors to consider when booking. We'd also like firsthand recommendations of 4-6 hotels. Rate is $500 with the potential for future articles. Writers must have lived experience with neurodivergence. Send pitches to pitch@motley-bloom.com. Include a bio and 2-3 relevant clips.
