Hello, writers!

Quick PSA!

There will be no newsletter next week, as I’m away on a mini-break.

Instead, I’ll be sharing a proper, full post of opportunities for paid subscribers only this Friday—a little like the extra opportunities in the chat, but this time a full post and more opps. And then we’ll be back to normal for the following week!

Today I have an amazing 80 opportunities for you to check out including 30 pitch calls and 50 freelance, remote or hybrid writing opportunities.

Don’t forget: I’m looking for you to share your tips, tricks and best practices for preparing for tax season, given we’re approaching everyone’s favourite time of year! I’ll collate replies and share in one big post, hopefully in the next few weeks! You can share your answers here, and I’d greatly appreciate anyone who can help out!

If you are a free subscriber reading this email, the full newsletter will go live in 24 hours, though upgrading to paid will give you complete access right now.

Pitch Calls

  • Conz at Business Insider is looking for personal essays on the following topics: Being an older parent — how you feel about it, how your parents felt about it, etc. Kids being disruptive — you thought you had done everything right with your parenting, and your kid did something bad. Millionaires and relationships — is it hard to make friends? date? Names — looking for fresh angles on name changes, loving/hating your name, etc. Tesla/Cybertruck — are you selling/not yours? Email: cpreti@insider.com!" Rates will be $230.

  • For Business Insider, Jess is looking to publish a few personal essays from military families. “Whether you grew up in a military home or you’re currently a parent in a military family, I want to hear your story. What are the struggles and benefits of living this life? Do you have any tips for other military families or lessons you’ve learned along the way that could help others? Send your pitch with a clear BI-friendly headline and 3-5 sentences explaining the focus of your piece to jorwig@businessinsider.com." Rates will be around $230.”

  • Stephanie is looking for hot-take essay pitches for BI! “Think short, 500-word pieces that get people talking. Rates start at $220. I accept pitches through DM or the link in my bio. No deadline to reach out.” Lots of good examples in the shared thread on Twitter.

  • Maybelle is on the hunt for interesting/useful pitches around consumer health (always uk only) for The i Paper. “Please check the site to see the kinds of things we cover before emailing at maybelle.morgan@theipaper.com.” This has paid £250 for 1000 word features in the past.

  • Clare has just joined The Times Magazine as acting features editor. If you want to pitch (or just say hi), you can contact clare.conway@thetimes.co.uk. No rates shared. This is a UK publication and is most likely looking for features from UK writers.
