Hey!
George here.
I run the Freelance Writing Network, and in case you didn’t know, it’s just me behind the scenes pulling everything together. From researching pitch calls to writing the posts and sending them out, every issue is made by hand, and without support. That means every so often, I need to step away and take a proper break.
I’ll be away from the 11th to the 20th September on holiday, and that means the daily freelance writing opportunities will be on pause until I’m back. But you’ll still have plenty to work with in the meantime.
The daily freelance job roundups will return on Monday 22nd September. Until then, you won’t see the usual lists in your inbox.
What you’ll still get while I’m gone
I’ve lined up a few things to keep you moving forward while I’m away, so you can still get value from your FWN subscription.
You’ll get:
Recaps of popular content from earlier this year, so you can revisit publications you might have missed.
An updated collection of publications paying for writing about technology, gaming and gadgets.
Guidelines for how to spot freelance job scams.
A reminder of the FWN’s live masterclass, helping writers successfully pitch non-fiction books to agents with literary agent Kate Barker.
Make the most of the pause!
If you’ve been meaning to catch up, this is a great chance. You can:
Revisit a past opportunities list and pitch editors you haven’t contacted yet.
Take time to refine your pitch templates or story ideas.
Use your week to work on your Substack, portfolio, or website.
Back on the 20th (ish)
Technically, I’ll be home on the 20th, but since that’s a Saturday, it’s more likely that I’ll restart with opportunities on Monday 22nd.
Until then, keep an eye out for the scheduled posts and recaps.
If you’re a free subscriber, this is also a good moment to consider upgrading so you don’t miss out on the extra resources going out this week.
See you soon!
George
